2010 Camp Rockmont Information

Get ready for the Triple Thrill!

Now is your chance to experience everything that the mountain has to offer—scenic views, great food, and a festive atmosphere. It is the moment that you have been waiting for…Camp Rockmont Fall Outing! This year at Camp Rockmont you will have an opportunity to spend an exciting weekend in the pristine mountains of North Carolina. Camp Rockmont is located four hours west of Raleigh in Black Mountain, North Carolina. At camp you will have the chance to ascend a fifty-foot high climbing wall, jam out to the greatest music of all time while at the archery range, ride a waterslide off the side of the mountain, take a ride on the Blob, and go on a white water rafting adventure! These are just a few of the activities available to you while at Camp Rockmont.

Registration for Camp Rockmont begins at 7am Monday, June 21, 2010. The registration period ends on Friday, July 30, 2010, and any registrations received after this deadline will incur a $20 late fee per pair. You may print the registration form off of the website (www.arapahoe-nation.org). The cost for Camp Rockmont is $136.00 per person. We would prefer that the whole tribe register as a group at the same time. You may send one representative to register for your tribe. Trailblazers no longer have to pay dues to attend this event. This year you will be able to choose the weekend that your tribe wishes to go to Camp Rockmont. We will register up to 600 people per weekend on a first-come-first-serve basis. Each weekend we have 425 bed spaces available in cabins, and 175 spaces available for tent camping. Turn in your payment as soon as possible because space is limited, and will fill up fast!

SPECIAL NOTE: You are not registered for Rockmont until you pay for the event. We DO NOT sell or reserve cabins to/for tribes, we sell beds. Once we have sold out of the 425 beds, we will not sell anymore even if half your tribe has beds and the other half does not. Please do not assume that because some members of your tribe have a bed in a cabin that there will be space in that cabin if you wait to register/pay. This is why you should try to register/pay as a group. That way everyone will get in and be under the same roof.

Tribes or pairs that choose this excursion will arrive at camp on Thursday evening. You will stay in your assigned cabin/tent area on Thursday night. We will provide breakfast Friday morning, and lunch on the river. The buses will depart from Camp Rockmont for the river early Friday morning, and will return back to camp that afternoon. The cost for this add-on is $75 per person. All payment and rafting questions should be directed to Buddy “Running Wolf” Fowler at (919) 847-0445 ext 25.

Running Wolf is a former Nations Chief, and has been coordinating our trip for 20 years. He will be sending you a flyer in the mail in June. Lets give a big “How-How” to Running Wolf for his continued service to the Arapahoe Nation! Sign-up PDF available here.

NOTE: Rockmont payment must be made before you can register for the raft trip. Rafting registration and fees are to be sent directly to Buddy Fowler, not the YGP office.
