Step 5 -Y Guides Registration Meeting (Official Tribe Formation Night)

This meeting is for Dad’s Only
This meeting is for Dads that have current or rising first grade sons or daughters
There are two of these meetings based upon your zip code
You must attend the meeting that corresponds to your zip code

The first meeting will be held at the Embassy Suites in Cary on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. (Please arrive by 6:45 p.m.). The Embassy Suites Meeting is for dads that live in the following zip code areas: 27511, 27513, 27518, 27519, 27502, 27523, 27560, 27539, 27562, 27540, 27526, & 27592. The Embassy Suites in Cary is located at 201 Harrison Oaks Drive, Cary, NC 27513
The second meeting will be held at the North Raleigh Hilton on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. (Please arrive by 6:45 p.m.) The North Raleigh Hilton meeting is for dad that live in the following zip code areas: 27601, 27603, 27604, 27605, 27606, 27607, 27608, 27609, 27610, 27612, 27613, 27614, 27615, 27616, 27617, 27587, 27522, 27571, 27597, 27591, 27545, 27529, & 27520. The North Raleigh Hilton is located at 3415 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC 27609

These two meetings will focus on the following items:
Brief orientation
Tribe formation
Pay Dues
Turn in registration forms
Receive a ticket for a Dad Training Meeting

Step 6 - Dad Training Meeting

This is a Dad’s Only meeting at a location of their choosing (we recommend a restaurant or meeting room)
Dad’s can also have this meeting the same night as the Dad Training Meeting
This is an optional meeting but highly recommended so that the dads can accomplish the following items:

Plan the year in advance
Plan the details for the first meeting
Talk about the tribes first outing
Decide on the leadership of the tribe
Come up with several tribe name possibilities for the entire tribe to vote on in the first meeting
Coordinate purchasing of the vest from the approved leather vendors

Step 6 - Dad Training Meeting

All six of these meetings require a ticket to attend that is received at the Y Guides Registration Night
Tribes must attend one of these six meetings
These meetings are for Dad’s Only
These meetings will be held at the YMCA of Triangle Association Resource Center on September 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, & 23, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. (Please arrive by 6:45 p.m.)
The YMCA of the Triangle Association Resource Center is located at 801 Corporate Center Drive, Raleigh, NC 27607
These meeting will focus on the following items:
Receive all tribal materials; handbook, patches, beads, and bear claws
Meet all the staff
In depth program tutorial
First year meeting tutorial
Review the program guidelines and tips for success
Make sure the staff has all registration forms and dues

Step 8 First Tribe Meeting

This is the first tribe meeting with both Dads and kids
This will be the official start of the tribe
Make sure everyone has purchased and assembled their vests prior to this meeting

Follow the structure in the handbook for the first tribe meeting
Vote on a new tribe name
After the meeting, call the Y Guides office and get the new tribe name approved
