Long Bow Council

Long Bow Council provides leadership and support to the mighty Arapahoe Nation. This carefully selected group of fathers and their children support the program staff and Nation Officers by assisting with outings and other events - such as:

  • Fall Outing
  • Winter Inning
  • Polar Bear Swim
  • Park Clean Up Day
  • New Dad Orientation
  • Kite Day
  • Camp Rockmont
  • Spring Outing
  • Christmas Parade
  • Chiefs' Meetings

The highlight of the year for Long Bow Council members is being able to come to Spring Outing early. After a great lunch at Camp Seafarer with YGP staff, Nations Officers and other LBC members & kids, you spend about an hour delivering information packets to cabins. You then have 4 hours to spend with your child with the camp all to yourself: to go fishing; find sharks teeth; play golf; as well as picking the best bunk in your cabin. LBC Big & Little Braves & Princesses also get to welcome other members at the front gate as they arrive and can assist at many of the camp activities. It's a lot of fun!

If you have an interest in joining the Long Bow Council or are a current member of the LBC and wish to continue to volunteer your time, please send an e-mail to Golden Otter and let him know so he can include you in future e-mails.

2010 Camp Sea Gull & Camp Seafarer Spring Outing

We would like all LBC members to help us at the Spring Outing they attend with their tribe. We invite all LBC members to attend a volunteer luncheon on the Friday of the Spring Outing. We will meet at Camp Sea Gull at noon on each Friday for lunch. Afterwards we will have a LBC meeting where we divide up the responsibilities for the weekend, which includes; Friday night gate duty, putting packets in the cabins, and running the Y-Guides store throughout the weekend. Please RSVP with Andrew Crook the Monday before your Spring Outing at andrew.crook@ymcatriangle.org.

Program Volunteers

We will need 20 pairs per weekend to help run activities at the 2010 Spring Outings. We need help at extreme BB's, archery, & canoes. We will let you have a chance to work at different activities, and we will try to give you some free time throughout the weekend as well. We will provide your housing for the weekend plus Friday lunch and dinner, all meals on Saturday, and Sunday breakfast and brunch.

All volunteers (dads and children) will need to participate in a mandatory training session March 7 from 3pm-5pm at our office. We will go over all the information you will need to know in order to run a safe and fun activity.

In order to volunteer at the Spring Outing, your child will need to be at least a fifth grader, and have come as a participant to the Spring Outing in the past. You can contact me for more details, and to sign-up to volunteer for the weekend.
