Between all the official Y Guide & Princess outings and tribal meetings, there's always time for other fun activities and special events.

Whether it's canoeing down the Neuse River, spending the night on an aircraft carrier or
taking in a Broadway show, below are a list of activities everyone can enjoy. Some are free,
some have fees. Some have patches, some are patchless... but are all are great fun!

Please note that the YGP office does not distribute patches for the third-party programs
or events listed below. Participants should go directly through the vendor to obtain a patch.

NC State Wolfpack
NC State has been a great sponsor of YGP events. From men's basketball at the RBC Center to tennis at the Isenhour Tennis Center, the Pack loves the support of our Braves and Princesses. Many events include a patch!

Carolina Mudcats
The Carolina Mudcats host their annual Guides/Princesses Day at Five County Stadium each season. Hop on US264 and zip on out for an evening of food, fun and top flight baseball action. Muddy will be in the house! Be there Y Guides Night when the Mudcats take on the Wilmington Blue Rocks on June 23. Tickets include Muddy Meal, box seat, infield pre-game ceremony honoring all

Durham Bulls
This season, over 3,000 Big Braves, Guides & Princesses enjoyed a Bulls game with over half of them staying to camp out on the field at The Durham Bulls Athletic Park. And summer 2012, they'll get to do it again! See the game, march in a parade around the bases, have dinner, sleep on the field and get a patch!


Duke Blue Devils
From season to season, the folks at the darker blue university in the area offers special tickets and group discounts for members of the YGP. Check back here from time to time or keep an eye on the nation calendar for events sponsored by Duke University.

Carolina RailHawks
Group tickets are available in the Club, Premium, and Spectator Levels based on availability. Purchase your tribe's tickets by filling out the order form and receive a 2011Carolina RailHawks Night patch, discounts off the gate price and group recognition by the PA Announcer.

Dairy Queen
Dairy Queen of the Triangle serves our guests from 4 locations in Raleigh, Cary and Morrisville and is a locally owned family company. Y Guides are invited to sechedule a behind the scenes tour and create their own ice cream sundae experience. For free activities, check out the programs offered at the N.C. Museum of History in Raleigh.

Feb. 4, 2-3pm - A Rolling Tale of Blackbeard, Pirate of the Carolina Coast Ahoy there! Blackbeard is going on a treasure hunt, and he needs your help! Join the infamous pirate of the Carolina coast as he retraces his steps with the help of Shelley, a loggerhead sea turtle, in search of his crew, his ship the Queen Anne’s Revenge, and his hidden treasure. Along the way you will meet some of the people he knew and get a glimpse of North Carolina’s coastal history. Featuring puppets, a sea chantey, and a wild pirate dance, this play is appropriate for all ages. FREE

NC State Parks Junior Ranger Program
Do you like to explore nature, help out, and protect our parks? Be a Junior Ranger! The junior ranger guide is best suited for children ages 6-12. Visit any state park, do fun outdoor activities, meet the park rangers, and do a short service project to earn a unique junior ranger patch. Collect them all! v   National Parks Junior Ranger Program
Guides & Princesses! Are you interested in exploring? Do you like art, science, history or nature? How about animals, sailing ships, dinosaurs or trains? Rather than tying their park experiences only to the scheduled programs, Junior Ranger Programs are designed to provide participants with the flexibility to see and interact with the park at their own pace and within the limits of their own time. Many National Parks offer visitors the opportunity to join the National Park Service Family as Junior Rangers. Interested students complete a series of activities during their park visit, share their answers with a park ranger, and receive an official Junior Ranger badge or patch. Aurora Fossil Museum
The Aurora Fossil Museum, founded in 1976, is a non-profit fossil education resource center whose mission is to increase knowledge of the geology and paleontology of the coastal plains of North Carolina. Dig for sharks' teeth in their Pit of the Pungo, visit the museum or buy Mom a special gift at the Aurora Fossil Museum, only 30 minutes from Arapahoe in beautiful downtown Aurora! Birthplace of NC’s Capital
Step back in time at the Joel Lane Museum House! Experience what life was like in the 18th century in Wake County. Kid-friendly tours are offered on Saturday afternoons (patches now available for a small fee). Built in the early 1770s, Joel Lane’s home is the oldest Raleigh. Its role today is to teach about the sacrifices the founding fathers and mothers made to make this great country, state, and city what they are today. Tours are followed by touching experience of reproduction artifacts.

Bennett Place State Historic Site
Bennett Place State Historic SiteIthe site of the largest surrender of the Civil War in April 1865) is a North Carolina State Historic Site in Durham which provides tours and educational programs pertaining to the American Civil War. They will provide historical educational experiences, nature trails, and possible community service projects on site such as landscaping, and nature trail care for community service.

Center for Wildlife Education
Centennial Campus Center for Wildlife Education – NC Wildlife Resources Commission offers quality programs and special events surrounding wildlife education. Fun activities offered are speakers, Wildlife Expo Day, technology classes, nature photography and geocaching. They also provide fishing clinics and the programs are FREE!!! Birds of Prey-LIVE! FREE! February 17 11am-12:30pm or May 25 12pm-1:30pm - Join Steve Stone from the American Wildlife Refuge as he gives an educational and entertaining birds of prey program and shows us the live birds he is describing. The American Wildlife Refuge rescues and rehabilitates young and wounded raptors such as these hawks and owls. See these amazing birds and learn about their life histories and hear the stories behind the rescues and successes that Steve has dealt with. Children must be accompanied by an adult. NC Museum of Natural Sciences
The NC Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh is the largest museum of its kind in the Southeast and features four floors of exhibits ranging from extinct dinosaurs to live butterflies, plus daily hands-on programs, high-definition movies, café, store and art gallery. The Museum is open seven days a week and general admission is free.

Sylvan Heights Waterfowl Park
You are only 90 minutes away from the largest bird park in North America, with over 1,500 birds from 6 continents. Sylvan Heights has 18 acres of exhibits, including 6 large, walk-through aviaries and 2 great wetlands viewing stations (a giant tree house and a beaver pond blind). In addition to many species of waterfowl, we have other birds such as emu, cranes, toucan, owls, macaw, flamingos, etc. There are picnic tables on the grounds if you wish to bring a lunch. Get ready to skate the night away with hundreds of other dads and kids. Our Guides/Princesses skate night will be held in late Fall and early Winter at the North Raleigh and Cary locations. The rate will be $5 per skater (includes all skate rental and a patch. If anyone who does not pay admission wants the patch, it will only be $2). The Raleigh Iceplex
The Raleigh Iceplex is offering an Ice Skating Adventure for all Arapahoe Nation members on March 10. The cost per person is $6, which includes skate rental and a patch.
An optional group skating lesson is available for $25 per tribe and recommended for
beginning skaters. Contact Stephanie Bardykine to reserve a space for your tribe,
or to check about an alternate date if the dates offered do not work for your tribe.

The Factory Skateboard Park
The Factory Skateboard Park offers 25,000 Square Feet of skateable space. The Factory Skateboard Park includes an Outdoor Concrete park that features a wide variety of obsicles including Manual Pads, Ledges, A Snake Run and Bowl. Cruise Aboard the Jeanie B.
Former Sea Gull/Seafarer staffers Lee & Brooks Sutton offer tribes the opportunity to set sail upon the mighty Neuse River and learn the art of sailing during the months of Sept., Oct., Nov. March, April & May. Besides being a ton of fun, a Jeanie B. trip gives tribes a first-hand experience at navigation, rigging and knot tying. Average cost is $25-$30 per person for a 4-hour Neuse cruise. Based in New Bern, the Jeanie B. is US Coast Guard approved for up to 30 passengers and available for full day and overnight excursions. United States Tennis Association
After a revolutionary rule change, kids 10 and under won't have to play like adults anymore and will love the game right away. It's a chance for kids to learn real tennis and have real fun doing it. 10 and Under Tennis follows almost every other youth sport and uses racquets, balls and courts that are sized right for kids so that they enjoy the game right from the start. Blue Heron Whitewater
Blue Heron Whitewater is the closest whitewater rafting outfitter to Asheville, NC. Your tribe can choose from a variety of rafting trips. Half Day Trips enjoy 5 miles, with fun class II-III rapids. Paddle Creek
Paddle Creek invites the entire Arapahoe Nation to cruise down the Neuse River in their kayaks and canoes. Paddle Creek offers affordable trips down the Neuse just for YGP. Welcome to "CFP"! If outdoor activities are what you're looking for, you've come to the right place. We offer both fun as well as educational activities. Archery, marksmanship, camping, horsemanship, golf, paintball, hiking with tree identification, petting zoo with picnic and play ground area, along with a pick your own vegetable garden (in season) are what you can do while spending a day at our farm. The scenery is breathtaking. The quiet fresh air is mesmorizing. The people are very friendly and will see you have as much fun as possible.
